Choices.........

Sometimes life leaves us with very few choices---circumstances are created by unavoidable occurances that back us into a corner. It can be an unfortunate and uncomfortable position to find oneself in. Sadly, we have now come to a point in America that the backs of the citizenry are against the wall. The government and massive entitlement programs are bourne on the backs of 53% of the people and the debt level piled on top seems to be without end. Meanwhile, the left grows their power base in that 47% who have their hands out and no skin in the game. Where does it leave the rest of us? I am afraid we are left with few choices.

As Washinton continues its march into every facet of life, we must ask ourselves what our options are. It seems that protests, letters, emails and public outcry are of little import to the political elites in DC. What options have they left us? Few...but perhaps enough to give us leverage. Now is the time for each of us to reflect on what can be done and how far each of us is willing to go in the name of and in the search for liberty. The only consolation is knowing that we are not alone...............

Meet founder Thomas Paine. Most of us know him as the writer of the pamphlet "Common Sense", but perhaps his most famous quote is the opening line from his 'The American Crisis' published Dec. 23 of 1776. At the time of its publishing, Paine was quartered with Washington's army at Morristown, NJ. In the winter of 1777, the Continental Army was in a bad way. The men were cold, malnourished and dog tired. Washington, remembering how impressed he had been with Paine's pamphlet, ordered it read to the suffering men. "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he who stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as Freedom should not be highly rated." Thomas Paine "The American Crisis"
Wyoming has become the first state to adopt a "Code of Ethics".
In an ethic-less world, it is a wonderful thing! Here's hoping that folks here live by it....and that it will spread!
The guidelines are:
1.
Live each day with courage. 2. Take pride in your work. 3. Always finish what you start. 4. Do what has to be done. 5. Be tough but fair. 6. When you make a promise, keep it. 7. Ride for the brand. 8. Talk less and say more. 9. Remember that some things aren't for sale. 10. Know where to draw the line.

Are you like me? Have you ever dreamed of seeing TRUE liberty in America? How I would love to experience the reality that our founders envisioned. Here is an article presented by the Mises Institute, written by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. Here is the vision! After reading it, visit the Mises Institute website for more information on liberty.

The Founder's Vision

Meet Matthew Huntington of Gadsden Legal. Matt is a freedom and liberty lobbyist in Cheyenne each year during the legislative season. He was of invaluable help to the members of this group while we were in Cheyenne for the legislative session! Thanks again Matt!!

Matt spends the 6+ weeks of the session in Cheyenne on his own dime. We owe him our gratitude for his persistance and vision. Drop Matt an email of thanks or perhaps a donation to help defray the cost of motel and meals while he is in Cheyenne. Gadsden Legal, LLC P.O.Box 453 Laramie, WY 82073 http://www.gadsdenlegal.com

Wrong Ideas....Wrong Attitudes .......I meet alot of interesting folks that drop by my lunch counter. I had an interesting conversation with one fellow the other day that took me a little by surprise. He drops in now and again...full of complaints about Washington and fight. This day was no different, until he said that he had heard the most profound thing on the radio and was going to have it put on a T-shirt.
"It should be our state creed!" he told me as he pulled a ragged slip of paper out of his pocket and unfolded it.
"To each according to his ability, to each according to his need," he announced triumphantly.
Now I have never been very good at hiding my feelings, and this day was no exception. The look on my face (shock) and the open mouth gave me away.
"You don't like it?" he asked, obviously hurt by my reaction.
"Do you realize whose statement that is?" I asked.
"No...just some guy on the radio," was the reply.

"That statement comes from Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto," I told him.
He opened his mouth to argue, and then got very quiet and stuffed the paper back into his shirt pocket.

Our minds are pelted daily with ideas of Karl Marx, Saul Alinsky and others of their ilk. I am often shocked by the statist, collectivist and socialist ideas that I hear coming from the mouths of those who claim to be conservative and 'pro-liberty'. We do not live in a democracy or a republic for that matter. We live in a Welfare state and it is only getting worse. People sit at home while the rest of us work 10 or 12 hour days to make ends meet. We supply them with cell phones (yes there is a govt. program for that) and cable tv and homes and clothing and food and utilities and healthcare. Take a look at how much you and your employer have honestly paid into social security. For most of us, it is under $100,000.00. Once you begin drawing that money YOUR contribution will be gone in 5 or 6 years. Then WHO pays your way? Washington's cradle to the grave policy is a failure, and that failure will be carried on the backs of our children and our grandchildren. Is your hand out? We can't have it both ways folks....either it's liberty and its price...or it is continuing down the socialist path we have been on for the past 100 years. Margaret Thatcher hit the nail on the head when she said, "The only problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." No truer word was spoken.
Honestly, none of us have ever seen true liberty....but I want to. Let me suggest that you read Karl Marx's Manifesto, Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals and see how many of their anti-liberty communistic ideas have crept into your thinking. Every good housewife knows: it is easier to clean house in the daylight when you can see the dirt.

Just a note......Remember that both Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin said that the only way we could remain free and maintain a republic was to be an 'educated populous'. Check out some of the websites in our links, order a couple of good books or borrow them from friends or branch library. Learn all you can about candidates. Don't make your voting decisions hastily. Listen to all the candidates and hear what they have to say. Look at voting records. Times are too dire to through your vote away too quickly...We have to change Wyoming and our counties before we can ever hope to impact the nation.

Wyoming Citizens for Liberty and Freedom
has set a new meeting schedule so there won't be confusion about when we are meeting.
On the 1st Tuesday of each month
we will have a regular business meeting.

Other meetings during the month will be dedicated to information and speakers. Watch your email!!

Now is the time to start writing letters and emails to our state representative. It is past time for a special session of the Wyoming Legislature to be called to deal with Healthcare, Cap and Tax and other unconstitutional mandates flowing out of Washington. If a session is called soon, then any possible amendments to our state constitution could be on the ballot in November. Sharpen those pencils and start composing!!
In 1787, a series of 85 letters were written in support of the newly written constitution. Under pseudonyms, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay wrote what would become 'The Federalist Papers' in an effort to see that new constitution ratified. At the same time, another group of letters urging that the constitution not be accepted were written. These would become known as the 'Anti-Federalist Papers.' The purpose of each was to inform and persuade the population. Be watching in the coming weeks as a new set of papers begin appearing in newspapers around the state in an attempt to inform voters of the issues and how they will be effected by them.
FEAR. It can take many forms: fear of the unknown, paralyzing fear, crippling fear, panic, or the ever popular 'head-in-the-sand' kind of fear. It matters not what form fear takes...it is always the enemy. As Americans, we have become a nation of sheeple, kept in the fold by fear. We dutifully write enormous checks to the IRS out of fear, we don't get involved with groups like this one out of fear. We follow the status quo, not rocking the boat just so we can go on with our lives unnoticed by 'Big Brother'. November's election may be the most import election that any of us ever see in our lifetimes. Learn who ALL the candidates are. Words are cheap. Actions speak far louder. Don't just vote for someone because you have 'heard' the name. The nation is at a crossroads and you have the map...which way do we turn?

Federal Land Grabs

Recently there was reported that 11 million acres in 9 western states were being considered as 'National Monuments' under the Antiquities Act. Wyoming lands were mentioned, but Wyoming is exempt from the 1906 law due to an agreement made with the state and Truman in 1950.
Below is a 2006 article from the Casper Star that gives some of the particulars of how and why Wyoming has an exemption from the Act.
